SECLUDED LAKE ANTOINE

Lake Antoine

Located on the road up to Levera, this caldera (remnants of an extinct collapsed volcanoe) has filled with fresh terrestrial runoff.  Covering approximately 16 acres, the lake is home to a wide diversity of species: coconut tress, sugar cane, bananas, watermelons, and other agricultural crops; the lake and neighboring mangrove support tropical birds, fishes, crabs, and other unique marine life. Birdwatchers frequent the lake regularly as it is a favorite stopping point for migratory birds.  Just minutes from the lake are Antoine Bay and beach, situated on the rugged Atlantic coast; the rough surf and blossoming mangrove are well known and accessed by many.  Don’t forget to visit the historical River Antoine Rum Distillery just around the corner.
