GRAND-ETANG NATIONAL PARK |

Deep in the heart of Grenada lies the lush sub-tropical park of Grand Etang. Situated high in the tropical rainforest, the remnants of a once active volcano has subsided to create the dazzling volcanic crater lake of Grand Etang; surrounded by vast mountain peaks blanketed in lush vegetation. The climate is regulated by a cool wind, and extensive clouds draped in fog hover over the majestic peaks. This unique natural system is home to a wide
diversity of exotic species of flora and fauna: Heleconia bracts, clusters
of giant Palms, Bamboo, and the local Blue Mahoe are common sights. Mona
monkeys and Manicou (Possum) roam the forest canopies. Armadillos, lizards,
frogs, Tree Boas, and colorful birds like the Hooded Tanager, Red-Necked
Pigeon, and Tropical Mockingbird is just a few of the many you will encounter
on your visit.

We invite you to come and marvel at the many wondrous aspects that Grand Etang National Park has to offer. This naturalistic protected setting provides an excellent journey back into the roots of ecology. Educate and invigorate your expedition into the tropical climate of Grenada with a hike along the vast network of trails. You can also choose to just relax by the vibrant gardens surrounding the park, picnic by the lake, or educate yourself in the visitor center. You may also want to totally immerse yourself in this tropical rainforest by setting up camp for the night. Several campsites are available overlooking a spectacular view at Morne LaBaye. You can also "rough-it" and set up camp anywhere in the park! A visitor center is situated at the entrance
to the park providing information, brochures and videos to answer any questions
you might have. Guides are available to accompany visitors at a nominal
cost, or for the more adventurous visitor, natural trails can be hiked
at your own leisure with trail guidebooks to explain many of the attractions.
